We're talking about Best Buy installers here....... so...... it's gotta be the radio, right?

Best Buy is not bad, just depends on who they hire. Like all retail places like BB (i.e. CC, ABC Warehouse, etc), they all will have "lemons". I've had the same Alpine deck in the Tour for over 4 years without any issues. I think it was the luck of the draw.

Dont get me wrong best buys should not be tryign to get into the car audio biz unless they really are willing to put effort into it. But seriously, headunits arnt rocket sience to install. Im 16 and I installed my first head unit like 2 years ago. Hmm red wire + red wire... Blue wire? wtf were does the blue wire go omg!!! no im just saying though, best buys workers cant be that dumb can they?

I believe Best Buy people really aren't the most intelligent people when it comes to buying their products. But in this case the Deck itself was actually at fault. Its just hard to believe Ill be on my 3rd one!! I think im going to push for an upgraded model.

<---- Former Best Buy Install Senior, and your installing in a Ford Escort at the age of 16 proves nothing Let me know when you can do a Mach 460 with no harness!

All this Bs talk about BB is retarted. Soo a mom and pop place who hires the same person its ok becuase they arn't best buy?

If you have a argement and wanna say BB installers are stupid or can't install. Come Look me up....

When the Crazy Mod'd Contour owners call me for wiring, along with other cars, says alot of my skills.

And i was the same way at BB

Yes some best buy installers know their stuff, but the problem is the fact that best buy is more likely to hire stupid people who don't know anything. A good audio shop counts on referrals and does custom work that requires good employees. Best buy does nothing but instal decks, speakers, amps, and subs if they are in a prefabricated box. You probably have less of a chance running into problems by going to a smaller shop that takes pride in their work. My first rule includes that the shop must have a photo album. I want to see pictures of different installs, and if they are that good they will be proud to show off their work.

good point there. But back to alpine i have had their decks, amps, subs, everything and i didnt like it at all. The HU blew out the RCA's, the amp smoked causing the subs to tweek and blow so i said f' it and went with a kenwood/pioneer system that i liked alot. But the best setup for me so far has been a kenwood HU,KIcker amps and x-over,2 12"Kicker comps and mempis highs and mids. That sounded great hit hard and loud and had good sound quality.
