Just curious to hear some opinions of the "experts" ...
I'm looking to upgrade my factory speakers & am seeing plenty of choices for speakers , both in 5x7 and 6x8 . I know the factory size is 6x8 , but the 5x7's will fit good too . My instincts tell me that a 6x8 will give "better" bass sound , but will the difference be negligible (i.e. not noticeable) ??
What do you guys think ?? Should I even worry about the 5x7 vs. 6x8 issue ?
TIA !

I put 6x9s in the front. They fit fine. Just be careful with the depth of the magnet, so it doesn't hit the glass.

are you talking about the size in the front door speakers? I've been thinking about upgrading those ones as well

Which 6 by 9's fit? That would help the midbass response. I imagine some cutting is needed.

I run infinty kappa 6x8's in all corners. powered by a alpine amp off an alpine head unit. And i can personaly attest, the bass SUCKS!!! I also run a 12" infinty sub. and i run the xover on the headunit so the door speakers only get mid's and highs and then they sound good. but just the door speaker and no sub, the sound blows. 6x8 is just a crummy size for bass. So my advise would be to run 6x9's (if they do infact fit like everyone is stating) or run 6.5's(i have always had good luck/sounding with 6.5)

My 6x9s are anchored in with big-ass sheet metal screws. Just be very careful when tightening them down near the speaker... if it slips, it will punch right though the cone. I kept my hand over the cone and used my bones as a shield.
