My Mondeo (same as '97 Contour) with the Zetec is down on performance. No missing, no check engine light or codes. I've replace the Catalytic converter, the front Oxygen sensor, have checked the operation of the EGR valve, changed the spark plugs and the Mass Airflow Sensor. I'm not expecting v8 performance here - but it is right slovenly off the mark - needs a lot of throttle movement to get any useful performance. Underway it goes fine - no missing etc but just seems 'flat' for performance when going up a small hill for example. There's nothing to indicate timing is off. The engine does not miss and will rev to redline (if you give it long enough!)
I'm thinking throttle position sensor may not be operating correctly - possible??

Yeah I was going to say go for the TPS first.

You'd know if the TPS was going bad. Idle would be on the high side.  The flat feel in performance is the Zetec.....plus I didn't see yours modded. Throw an intake on....that may liven her up a little.

Any chance you have some 0-60 times and any other performance data for a stock zetec contour so I can compare?
