what kinds of imporvments can you see/feel from it being on there?

I see in the picture that person just has the RSTB up against the carpet. Wouldn't it be better to have it up against the tower, i.e. the metal?

You'll notice in turns, in a straight line the strut towers wouldn't flex. Now, please someone tell us why this thing is mounted inside the carpeting...

It won't make a difference if carpet is there or not, because you'll have it tight enough the carpet will just be squished under it. If it was me, I'd cut holes in the carpet for it just because.
