I'm going to need to replace the Comp T/A's on the '99 SVT rims that I have. For some reason they are very loud as I go down the road you have to almost yell to talk above them at 80 mph, and I'm going on 2 1000+ (one way)road trips soon and it want to replace them so I don't go insane with the noise. I am looking at BFGoodrich Traction T/A V, Bridgestone Potenza G009, Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S. Does anyone have any expirience with these tires, good/bad or one better than other? I really like the Michelins because they are better in every way, especially in noise, snow traction, and wet traction according to tire rack, which are the most important things to me. However, they are the most expensive by about $20 a tire. But I would put out the extra money for a better tire. I can get a price cut on all of them because of connections with a local tire store too. I did consider seperate rims for winter tires but not gonna happen cause I'm just a poor college kid and all-season tires work good enough in the snow as long as I stay on the road.
One more question-I am going to replace the 215/50R16's with 225's. Should I go with 45 height so the speedometer is closer (assuming the stock LX tires are 195/65 R14's, the speedo will be right on according to size calculators) or will there be much of a difference with the 50 height? What would be better for gas mileage? Yes, i did search. If you guys could answer these questions(especially the last ones) it would be a huge help for me and I would owe you one. Thanks.

Either 225/45 or 225/50 will be okay. I'd look at the Falken Ziex Z512. Discounttiredirect.com has them for very cheap, and they consistently get great reviews.

I went with 225/50 on my 16 inch rims. I too had the stock LX 14 inch rims. They work great. You should have a problem at all.

I switched from LX 14" rims on my '95 to E1s with 225/50VR16 Yokohama Avid V4s (which I really recommend if you're looking for a killer value...$80 each from Tire Rack, and I love them). The only problem I discovered was it threw my speedo about 10% low, which is a problem when you think you're cruising at 70mph but really doing 76mph. That was an expensive ticket.

Well, after talking to my friend at Tires Plus, I can get the Bridgestones for $90 a piece and free shipping since they have them in stock. Yea, the Michelins are better in every way, but not a whole lot and I have done tons of reasearch to find that the $40 cheaper per tire is worth it for the Bridgestones. Looks like 225/50, cause I want to keep the rpms down on the highway for a litle better gas milage (and less noise), plus more grip couldn't hurt when dodging deer going to and from college. Thanks for the help guys,I'll shoot some pics when they get mounted.
