I have a 1999 Ford Contour L4-122 2.0L DOHC SFI.

I need to change the plugs and noticed it has two different numbers. 2 Double Plats and 2 Regular Plats

Motorcraft part # AZFS32F and part # AZFS32FE.

Is this mandatory that I replace with same ones?

Also, what's the sequence and plug gap and torque?

Thanks

Don't need to replace them with the same ones....I have used just about every plug available for the Zetec.

As far as sequence I just went down the line.

As for the torque.....I just tightened until snug.....never had a problem the whole 140k miles.

2 things to have that are handy are a 12" socket extension and a spark plug socket.

So, what spark plugs should I use? There must be a reason that they have two different part numbers?

Just go to you're local parts store and pick up some Autolight Double Platinums. Cant go wrong there.

I already did and I returned the Auotlite.

I had issues with the Autolite and they said I must replace my sparkplugs with 2 Double Plats and 2 Regular Plats from the factory.

They told me that's why the Autolites didn't work and gave me bad gas mileage. That I have to resinstall the OEM's with the two different part #'s

Issues:

I just put in the Autolite Platinum Pro/Extreme Perform. APP5364 today!

First issue: The reach on the plug was about 1/4 inch longer than the Motorcraft and I was concerned with that.
Also, the guy at the store said the gap should be 0.52 and the pugs were at set. BUT, at http://www.autolite.com, they say it should be at 0.50.

Second issue: I notice a *decrease* in gas mileage....it's aweful. I just came back from driving a distance I drive all the time and notice I used almost used a 1/4 tank of gas when I normally ony use about and 1/8.

This was beaten to death in your other thread in the troubleshooting forum.

Install the Motorcrafts recommended at www.motorcraft.com Four of them, all the same.

You do NOT need the spark plugs as suggested by the parts store.

You do need to follow the advice given here...

Autolite APP5364

Same as the motorcraft but usually cheaper.

Yeah. I ran my car with the double platinum Autolites for the longest time and I had ZERO issues, excellent fuel mileage and performance. I only changed over to my NGKs because I'm an ass and feel the need to spend $10 a plug. Seriously, the double plats are fine! Same installation advice as Loco is what I have done forever.
