I changed the oil like a month ago, since then the car started to make that diesel sound when the car is cold, should i blame the oil for that sound, or what would the problem be. my car has the zetec engine, its a 2k

sounds like the hydrolic lifters are starting to get noisey. Its not a problem, just an annoyance. at 58K miles... Seems like thats happening a little early. what oil are you using?

It happens all the time. I've heard it on nearly new foci. Some zetecs are noisier than others. Be sure to use 5w-30 (synthetic preferred).

I would. Use mobil1 or another true synthetic (amsoil, red line, royal purple).

completely disagree. You really only get the benefits of a synthetic oil if you use it right from the start of an engine's life. You also risk damaging the seals on your engine by making the switch to synthetic (thats a big maybe though). Synthetic blend is the way to go on higher mileage engines.

Haha.
Go do your homework.
Fordfan, glad you don't have the noise any more. If it was truly the lifters and it happens again, don't get too worried. Like I said, it's pretty normal.

Only pre-98's had hydraulic lifters. Your 2000 has solid lifters just like the Focus.
Double check your oil level. If it continues, go get a cheap oil pressure guage. Test it on a cold start. You should built some pressure immediately. Starving your head for oil is bad.
If it is really as loud as a deisel, you should be VERY concerned.
