Escort was cheaper and didn't compete with the taurus.

Forget Supercharger, I would have been happy if they just kept bringing over the Mondeo.

A MKIII Mondeo with a massaged 2.5 or the 3.0 duratec would have been fantastic.

if you look at the saleen contour "concept" you'll see that they kept blowing motors.

Side note: It would of been awsome for the SVT contour to have been supercharged we would be able to compete with the evo and sti's today.I know,I know you can just buy an ADC turbo kit,but it would of been niceto start off with a supercharger.

(see what happens when your bored and all you can do is think about your car )

Really! Dang it ford...why did they have to stop making the tour.

Seriously. They were improving the design every year, and it was surely one of their best platforms.

Improving? I wouldnt say that. I think the quality went down a little bit over the years and each year they decontented more and more features.

Well then I suppose that's a matter of opinion... it's true that some things improved, others regressed. It was improving steadily up to '98 at least, anyway.

Not really. Again, some things improved, but even more things were decontented. Decontenting started immediately after introduction of the Contour.

Enlighten me... what was decontented from 95-98? Just wondering, because I'm aware of several of the little things that happened starting with 98.5 but I haven't heard of anything before then. I searched for decontenting but only found info on the latter years.

I know there are quite a few things, but I'll mention what comes to mind. Optional heated outside mirrors. Better level of rust proofing. Rod shift to cable shift on manual trans. The rod shift was a content upgrade on the Taurus SHO and Ford went backward on the Contour. Manual trans case casting finish quality. SE lost better handling suspension. Less sound deadner throughout the entire body. Front seats on 95 to 97 more comfortable (better pading and better bolstering). Wheel covers on 98 and newer base models are exceptionally ugly and look completly out of place.

The 95s had little halos in the outside locks so you could see where to put the key. In 96, it was dropped.

They were on my friend's 95 GL with no options other than power locks and ATX. They were not on my 96 that had more stuff like alloys and power windows.

They also removed the lock and light from the glove box either for 97 or 98. My 96GL had both, my 98SVT has neither. Later years I hear the girly man hook was dropped off it also.

Heated mirrors were mentioned, probly one of the bigger decontents, IMO.
