I'm a noob. What kind of datalogging does this thing do?

I mean like, nothing beats a real dyno-tune right? Without wideband o2, isn't it still limited?

You can datalog pretty much EVERYTHING with the Xcal2. Doesn't mean squat unless you plan to have ADC send you some more files, or you get the PRP to make any adjustments. Just go to sctflash.com and download the free software. It's simple.

Alex Pepper's OBD-II setup is the best OBD-II datalogging tool available.
However like stated unless you have the $650+ racer's package it's a moot point anyway. Plus like you mentioned as well you still need a wideband for A/F tuning.

The best solution for 99.7% of the people out there is to go to a dyno that has the SCT software and get a base program for the XCAL2. Chasing any type of mail order program is a huge waste of time and money.

I don't know now. I haven't used Peppers software, but that Xcal2 is a friggin monster with PIDs you can datalog. More information than I really need.
Combine that with the Innovate LM-1 with AuxBox setup and you could record EVERYTHING about the car, make up your own changes, then request those changes be implemented from ANY SCT dealer selling tunes.

I am very very close to buying the dealer software from SCT so that I can tune codes but I wan't to build up a customer base of people so that I could eventually pay off the software.

I have a combination that lets me make perfect tunes Tom. I have for years now. You'll get there someday I just know it.

For that matter most of my combination is from countless hours of my own work and design. Not some bought off the self simple stuff. I suspect you know something about that yourself though.

Blah Blah Blah....
Talk to the hand....

Yeah, I know about the tuning aspect now myself.

The Xcal 2 works as an awesome scan tool. With good data logs we can tune anything over the mail. You have to keep in mind we have been tuning with SCT 8 hours a day, for years as apposed to some people who have been messing around with it for months. With you sending us the data log via email, it is no different than us being there tuning your car. How can it be different??? We use the same data logger to tune the cars here on the dyno. It has replaced our high dollar fancy scan tools. The dyno allows us to tune wide open throttle conditions using the wide-band 02 sensor. Because we have tuned a bizzilion trillion Contours here, we already have good maf tables for pretty much any intake. If you take one of our mail order tuned cars to the dyno, you will notice that under wide-open conditions the air fuel is perfect. Problems arise at part throttle, part load on 1 out of a hundred cars partially due to people porting this and that which makes the MAF very upset. It is not a huge deal and can be adjusted with some good data logs.

If you have any questions or concerns please hit me up. I am glad to answer any questions

I don't see how porting anything from the manifolds on down is going to affect the MAF readings as long as there are no vacuum leaks. Again, as long as there are no mechanical problems then part throttle problems could be exacerbated from changing the intake tract length, changing throttle body diameter, or a poorly represented MAF function.

I agree with datalogging you can tune pretty good and take it to the dyno and the car will do well unless a mistake is made in the tune.
However, I don't think it is good for people to expect a great tune just off the shelf out of the mail. It is too unreliable IMO.
