Ive been looking at some exhaust components on summit racing lately... Just for... Fun... I was thinking of some interesting ideas of exhaust, I wanted to do a dual setup, but from everything I have been reading, there is no real benefits to putting dual mufflers on with a zetec... Aside from breaking the bank. So I thought, if I got a good, cheap muffler that goes under the car and replacing the resonator with it, I could get a little more sound out of the exhaust, and get a nicer tone... but as I though about it more, I decided "why not go bigger piping too? So I went on Summit racing and found some cheap mufflers that seem like pretty good products, I like the Summit and Dynomax mufflers. My two choices: Summit Muffler Dynomax muffler I like the Dynomax muffler because it says its proven to reduce backpressure 30% better then stock, and I would love to eliminate as much backpressure as possible. But I like the Summit muffler because its a little less pricey while giving the same basic effect. What do you guys think? Summary: Cut out res. Replace with cheap turbo muffler, redo pipeing from outlet of "resonator" to rear muffler at 2.25 In. Can Muffler will still exist.

No.
I don't think that muffler will even fit there.
But don't have a muffler at the res spot and then another at the back.
Run 2.25" pipe from flex pipe to res area put a bullet style muffler there and then 2.25" to rear and add a tip.

I have the Summit muffler. Sounds really nice and mellow, not loud at all. I originally bought it to get me by until I got a better one, but I dint feel the need to replace it after I heard it on the car. Its in the res position with no rear muffler and stock pipe.
One thing about it though- it doesnt fit in the resonators space very well, too wide by bout an inch. As a result it sticks down a little.

The dynomax turbo-style mufflers sound like poo. The turbo style muffler's internal construction in general is not optimal, to put it kindly. I would go with a magnaflow instead. Edelbrock used to make a muffler that was a split flow style internal design that seemed to offer the best in both sound and flow, but I think they've stopped making them.

I beg to differ. Me and my friend just put one of those Dynomax turbo-style mufflers on his dad's Econoline. The muffler muffled the exhaust note just enough to leave it with the tasteful characteristics of the 302, but without the nasty sounding garbage that usually comes from a glasspack or flowmaster. It may not be to everyones' taste, but I found it just about right. Not too loud, yet still very noticeable. You might have gotten a bad one...

I've heard them on everything from solid cam 383 SBCs to Datsun inline 6's and I have never liked the sound. I much prefer magnaflow or the straight through(race/ultraflow) dynomax mufflers.

I never liked the way Magnaflow mufflers sounded. Far too quiet to even warrant the purchase...
Or maybe that was just from my personal experiences...

A turbo style muffler will not give you any significant performance gains & will quiet the exhaust much more. The straight through designs like Magnaflow or Dynomax Ultraflow will give you the best performing system and not quiet the exhaust too much.
I have had a Dynomax turbo on my V-6, but got rid of it after a few months. It was just too quiet - Like stock but with a slightly deeper tone. Not noticable if you didn't drive the car every day.
My advice to you with a Zetec, ask Hector.
My suggestion would be keep the rear turbo muffler, replace the resonator with a Magnaflow 5x8 or 6" round and see how you like it. If you want it a little louder, then replace the rear stocker with another Magnaflow unit (size to fit).
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
