Just checking if anyone has experience with building a contour for showroom stock racing (SSB). I think someone in New Jersey runs an SVT Contour in that class and was wondering if anyone knew him or if he was on the boards, just trowing this out there...

Don't think it's SSB, but Mike Seidel races in something similar, but not SCCA. He might be "SeicoRacing" or something similar, and I've seen him most often over on FCO, since Terry basically built his car.

I believe that noone runs them because they aren't reliable under that ruleset. IIRC, there was a Sport Compact Car article out in 1998 that broke the car DOING THEIR TEST with a SSB prepped car. Most thought that it would be too cost intensive, especially compared to the other cars out there that are SSB legal. And in club racing, not everybody is a multimillionaire that wants to rebuild the Duratec after every track weekend.

Personally, I'd take the GSR and walk everyone else.

These are the results of an SSB race at Pocono, where this guy finished 2nd in SSB with an SVT Contour. Just seeing if anyone has heard of him. BTW 1st place was a Celica GTS with fast lap of 1:54.662
