My day wasn't starting out so good. I go to my car to leave for school and the door won't shut. I slammed it for about 10 minutes then I warmed it up. Let it run for 5 minutes and it finally closed. I was late to school. Then when I was leaving school it did it again. Didn't do it as long. When I left my other school it was fine. So I came home and sprayed WD-40 in the latches. Now I thought it was odd that the latches would be dry considering the doors were lubed at the last oil change (not even two months ago). I talked to a friend who told me this happens frequently in southern cars. My car is southern. Has anyone heard of this?

Oh ya and it did it last week too, then it went away. I didn't lubricate it then. My father thought the latch was frozen. I argue otherwise. Last week it was about 50 degrees. Today it was in the low 20's. Anyone have any other advise?

Put grease in the latch. The cold weather does funny things to the Contour.

Like Tony says, use something else. WD-40 is not a lubricant. (read the can)

I have a oilcan of non-detergent oil. Anything with detergent attracts moisture. :/
