hi i was wondering if anyone has used 50/50 prestone coolant? now the bottle says last up to 150,000 miles. would you wait that long or would you change it sooner? if so at what miles would you do a coolant change? i havent bought it yet im still waiting on my thermostat to come in the mail.

Atleast every 30k mile. And (generally speaking) antifreeze is antifreeze, so the prestone stuff will be fine.

Why wouldn't you change the coolant out? It is prolly the easiest fluid change.

Lol, I'm busy and work all the time, but common, you had a span of 100,000 miles! That is like 4-5 years!

You must be joking! I've found it to be an utterly craptacular experience every time I've had to do it, especially now that my drain plug is chewed all to hell. Oil and Transmission are by FAR the easiest. Well at least ATX is...

It depends. The ATX can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, as is the oil, especially the filter. The coolant plug, once removed the first time, is easy to remove after that, and you don't have to be all the way under the car to get to it.

Yes, but I have the fabled '97 Zetec, which automatically ups the difficulty. I've changed my oil so many times, it is clockwork now. I did change the oil, etc. on my friends's '00, and the filter was a different size, as well as in a different position. The easiest way to change the oil is jack up the car, take the passenger side wheel off, and get down to business. Daylight helps IMMENSELY, but I've actually done it in the dark before. Yes, I was impatient.
