I know this is a Contour forum, but I'm looking for any help I can get. I've scratch my head raw trying to figure this out.

So, let's see if I can really describe this. Here's a list of what I've noticed when it does it....
-First off, it's not consistant. It only does it now and then.

-There were a lot of things that happened just before it started. I changed to big FMIC, it got cold outside, and I tried several tanks of Conoco gas (when premium was $3+/gallon). All previous gas has been from Chevron.

-Anything over 10psi of boost. But I can only feel it do it once or twice if I bring it over 12lbs of boost at WOT.

-Starting from a light or a stop. But only if the RPM's are below 1500.

-When cruising and I need to accelerate to pass (or whatever) and I apply about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, boost is about 8-12psi depending on which gear I'm in. It will do it once or twice.

Ok, I think that's about it. But if i think if anything else, I'll add it.

For reference, here are the power mod's I've done....
MOPAR Stage 1 (boost spikes @ 14psi and holds 12psi at redline when it's cold, warmer weather it's 18psi and holds 15-16psi)
Short ram intake
Cat back exhaust
MSD coil pack w/8.5mm wires
I've replaced the plugs w/ OEM gapped at .040"

The last full tank of Conoco gas got a bottle of 104+ Octane booster, thinking maybe bad gas. Since then I've switched back to Chevron. Which has helped a little.
I'm gonna try changing the plug gap down to .035" tonight and see if that does anything. Plus I'm gonna switch back to the OEM coil pack/wires. Then back to the stock ECU and if that doesn't do it, off to the dealer it goes.

Anyone have any ideas?
Tell me it's bad plugs, bad wires, bad coil pack, bad fuel filter, anything.

TIA!!

one thing you might check

where is your intake temp sensor?
If the engine is reading too cold of a charge it may try to compinsate and your feeling its efforts?

(welcome to my world BTW - I still have the miss that this car has had since I got it)

it's on the intake before the turbo

maybe by the time you have tripple cold air running into the intake its too cold for the computer to compinsate for?

Sounds like an ignition issue.... test out the swap to OEM stuff.

As far as the IAT sensor, everything that I have read/heard says that it's best to have it after the IC and before TB to see what the engine is actually going to see. Did the actual location change once you switched to a larger IC?

yeah - what daymonsaid - also I ment that its REALLY cold outside, plus having a bigger FMIC = Tripple cold

one step at a time.....
changed my plugs and gapped them to .035.......and the verdict......problem solved, at least for now.
If it starts up again, I'll swap to the OEM coil pack and wires.

I don't think I'd ever guess that .005" in spark plug gap would make that much difference. :kickmeinthehead:
