I know when i fived an EGR issue last yer my CEL cleared itself once repaired, will the same thing happen when i install the MIL eliminators to get rid of an ineficient pre-cat code? Or do i simply need to disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes after install?

I always disconnect the battery for at least 15mins to rest the computer and it will detect the change.

You do disconnect the battery before removing the O2 sensors and installing the mileliminators anyway. However, do check the owners' manual for fuse numbers as some late models (especially 2000, not too sure about 1999) the Fuses are 6 and 11 to relearn the PCM.

I keep reading posts upon posts about pulling two fuses to clear the ECU - people there is only ONE fuse that needs to be pulled and you don't even need to know the position number/location.
Look for the 3 AMP fuse in the engine bay fuse box. There is only one; that fuse is solely for ECU MEMORY - that's the ONLY one that needs to be pulled and it only needs to come out for a minute at most. The other fuse that people always pull is for the ECU power which is only used when the ingnition is switch on - hence pulling that fuse is pointless anyway.
Thanks!

You are correct on the (3 AMP) Number 11 KAM fuse. I had a discussion with a CEGer about this a few months ago and the reason for pulling the other fuse (4 or 6) is just in case someone leaves the key in the ignition and then wonders why the codes are still there. Which is why I have continued to state (4 and 11) or (6 and 11) to re-learn the PCM.

Messing with the ECU with the key in the ignition is a recipe for disaster!

Probably, but I really don't know and I am not going to experiment with it.
Unless I hear otherwise from someone else, when I make these posts again in the future, I will state "Remove key from ignition, then remove Fuse 11 (3 AMP) from the Power Distribution Box next to the battery". Thanks for bringing this up.

If you reset the ecu make sure that you do quite a bit of driving before saturday so that all of your odbII tests complete, otherwise you won't pass.
