I'm just throwing this idea/question/offer out there...

This spring I'm going to have a local shop make my turbo plumbing. If there was a low cost "starter kit" available, would others be interested? I say "starter kit" because it would only be the header to turbo flange and the downpipe. You would be responible for buying the injectors, MAF, intercooler, bypass valve, fuel pump, FPR, and tuning.

I would have the shop make my permanent pipes out of SS but have them make a low-cost duplicate in mild steel. Something that I could ship to ADC, or some other Contour-friendly shop to duplicate for others that are interested.

It might also be nice to have this out there for the Zetec Cougar guys as well.

I'm just wondering if I should go through the added expense of having the second set made. Waddya think? Any interest?

some people in the UK have used a T3 turbo flange welded onto a focus SVT (ST170) exhaust manifold, i realise the downpipe would also need to be modded to fit round the sump etc.

inlet manifold, theres a few different alternatives. some people have used a rover 820 manifold (needs an adaptor plate) because it can use the sierra cosworth injectors.

i'm sure you'd get a few people interested from the UK in a zetec turbo starter kit, i would have been interested but have already gone down the supercharger route.

Actually it would use an '00 Focus Manifold. It can be found easily and cheaply. Plus it's stainless (not shiny 304 but still much better than mild steel).

I would get a short adapter to fit in this space...

The really cool part is that you could use any aftermarket Focus header as an upgrade.

BTW, it would be made for a turbo with a T3 flange and internal wastegate.

Also I'm not planning on using the stock swingvalve. I'm getting this one from ATP Turbo...

That way you have a nice V-Band for easy turbo swaps.

I like the size of the downpipe connection, but there is so little space between the turbo and AC compressor and power steering pump are you sure that fits? We had to do a sharp, sharp angle on my downpipe to get it to clear and it didn't stick out as much as in that pic.

No A/C. All of that crap had to go. Not to mention the AC Compressor weighs about as much as the turbo. It's a nice tradeoff.

With the short header-turbo adapter pipe, it should clear the PS pump easily. Also, by using the ATP swingvalve, it will reduce the width by quite a bit. It's still going to be a tight turn because of the lower radiator hose but not severe enough to hurt flow.

It will also be a full 3" downpipe. To match up to this...

Well, not everybody is gonna wanna remove the AC so that will limit who'd might want a version of it.

True. I've still got the AC compressor so I could see how tight of a fit it will be.
