OK guys. We all know the outcomes of the past group buys. So, lets leave this thread to those that are interested. If you all want to point and laugh, do so without replying to this thread. Thanks.

If your going to try something I would suggest making mold-on/bolt-on fender flares. I would think this could be done easily with relatively little to no pain. Doing a full kit could be a very tough if you don't have a lot of experiance. The tricky part with the fender flares would be how to bring it in with the existing ground effect pieces.

Either way I'm interested to see your progress. Good luck!

I have to say it be cool, but like mentioned above the price would $$$$ Possibly to the point where guys without an SVT could just go buy one. <--me lol

So everyone from CEG and COA and fordcontour.org needs to buy a powerball ticket and whoever wins can fund kit.

In on honesty it would be a sweet if you could pull it together.

YES. If done right, bolt on flares could be teh hotness... think of how the lines of a Mirko could lead up and around the wheel well.

Obviously these are way more extreme, but maybe a source of inspiration:

'Course, they could also look terrible, but I'm all about seeing new stuff. T'would be best if the screws went inside the wheel well, and the outside sat flush to the car (reinforced w/ double stick tape?), so no one's drilling holes in the fenders.

First off, Lay off the nascar spoiler, i know many people who have seen the car in person and say it looks great , now dont get me wrong not every one can like everything, but just give it up. Now I do understand every ones concerns about the kit and how much money it will take to first devlop the kit then sell the kit, so maybe this isnt the way to go , even fenders for the car that arent wide, just plain old stock that are carbon fiber, or fiberglass painted the color of your car would be nice for weight issues. does anyone have a spare fender, from one of there tours that i could buy and try this out, like i said ive fiberglassed somethings and im down to give it a try.

IMHO the only reason to buy CF fenders is to say "I have CF fenders on my contour",considering the fenders only weigh 10 or 15 pounds each.Do you really think it would be worth spending several hundred dollars to save 10 pounds.

Flares like those as a stand alone piece does not flow with the lines of this car. Now, this is my opinion and I believe that of a large part of CEG as well. If I may be so bold as to go on, in order to make something that is going to be a broad success we need to look at the other kits and where they failed. Both the Erubuni and Kaotic Kit are very nice kits on their own but when coupled to the contour do not match up aesthetically. The one exception is the Erubuni kit put on the Mystique. The lines flow and it actually enhances the car as a whole, not just a section. Dreroks front bumpers were and are very good pieces of work however when you look at the finished piece you could easily tell that something doesn't seem quite right. Even the much drooled over M3 bumper, that I wonder will ever get made, almost doesn't look quite right. It does do a better job at bringing the lines of the car forward and into the bumper but still needs tweaking. In pictures the CF1 trunk does a pretty good job at bringing the lines of the car into it with a small exception. In the pictures it misses the mark by about a half inch to tall. I have never seen it in person myself yet there a handful of people here that will tell me I'm wrong.

Now, if someone wants to take a buddy club kit and stick on the contour backwards because they think it looks great then by all means do it and be proud of your work. If something is to be mass produced or just wants the acceptance of the mass population then it needs to just work.
Enhance the slight lip that is there now on the fender but keep in mind that there isn't anyone running 12" tires that needs to be tucked under the fender because they're so wide.
Keep in mind the spirit and design of the car and work on complimenting and enhancing it.

Mike
