Hello Group!

Was talking to a wreck yard looking for an alternator to rebuild for my 97 Sport V6 MTX. They said there are 6 different alternators for this same little Duratec engine, although they are all of 130A output capacity, each has its ID# on the casing that reads like

96BB-AB
F5PU-BA
F5RU-BA, BB and BC
F6PU-AAB
94BB-AA
96BB-AA and AC

The guy at the yard couldn't tell what exactly the differences are but simply said it'd be best to replace with one with the same ID# (I'd say that too when I have no clue).

My question is just as the subject reads, and I'd appreciate if someone can shed some light on this. Have a good weekend!

as far as I know there is no difference, chances are it is just a change in part number

i got one from a junk yard for my car, I think it was from a 99 mystique and I have a 99 also, that was well over a year ago and no issue yet
