Could be the temp sensor for the Gauge is defective, or your thermostat is stuck open. Ususally, the problem is running hot, gauge at "al". How long are you driving, it may just never fully warm up.

well the heater seems to warm up fine. i drive 36 miles to work. my gauge is just bearly above c on the gauge. when i go through cities its like a tad above of a 1/4 (like a gas gauge). so i should just look at my thermostat tomorrow then? wont hurt to change the thermostat it's original at 124,406 miles. i need a flush to i'll look at the how to. anyways so im not sure if it's over heating too it's above the c. i dont have normal written as my gauge i have to explain it to you like a gas gauge. anyways thanks for your reply

As long as you are draining your coolant system, replace both the thermostat and the temperature gauge sender. Total they will cost you ~$20. Both could be causing your problem, like Fave says.

I had this problem in an old 626 once: turned out that somebody had put it together with no thermostat at all in there! The window defroster sure worked a lot better with a thermostat. Had more horsepower too. So yeah, my bet is a stuck open thermostat.

I also once saw a car where the edge of the thermostat was in there but the middle had apparently been removed with wire cutters.

. . . Two zetec Contours, two blown head gaskets... for some reason I have a Japanese car now. anybody in California want a Diehard Gold 100 month battery? inquire by PM.

I wouldn't take anything off w/out replacing the gasket. So if you can check ...X... without removing it, then no harm done...you will lose some coolant though...

I'd wait.
