I recently acquired a garret t3/t4 turbo. i was wondering if this is a practical turbo application for a 1999 Contour Sport V6 MTX. If so, are extensive engine modifications required...ex. new heads, and does a svt uim and lim need to be used?

Start by reading the FAQ in this section first (Forced Induction).
Then SEARCH for T3/4 in the same section - it's ALL there.

since everyone else failed to help you ill give her a try. first you need to know the specs on the turbo like the impeller size and case size, and so forth. depending on that it should make a nice increase in power. you shouldnt have to do a bunch of stuff to the car as long as you get your tune nice and save. give it plenty of fuel and dont get greedy with wanting more and more hp and you should be alright.

No im not saying that at all. trust me i have the utmost respect for all you guys who have been doin this forever. trust me i would love to have the knowledge that you do, but sometimes the faq's can be misleading and its hard to pick out the information needed, im just trying to gather all the information i can about this and its easier to get direct answers

What T3/4 is it?

There are countless variations of a "T3/4 turbo" and if you do not know what variation you have you are starting from a big handicap.

You're being way too hard on him. Questions stimulate discussion, even if it is negative. We haven't really gone into all the ins and outs of T3/4 turbos and their applications. It is interesting if he comes back with the specs on his turbo because then we can see if it is usefull or not.
