What RPM do you shift at 1st through 5th gear on the 2.5 during normal driving?

It makes peak HP at redline...
it makes peak gas mileage at or below ~3200. you can decide from there.
(VERY simplified... don't anyone jump in with "well.. technically..." on that mileage statement.)

~2000 to 3500 depending on what traffic I'm in.
Unless I'm feelin a little frisky, then I'll do the ol higher rpm shifts.

Then I'm in 5th.

I drive slow I know
I do that when I drive cars with torque. The Contour is not one of them.
Occasionally I'll go from 3rd to 5th but that's usually downhill.

if you have a standard duratec it makes power to about 5.5 krpm, after that it is just noise
I normally hit about 3 to 4 krpm when cruizing otherwise I hit about 6 since this is where my power drops off
on the zetec about the same type of thing but there isn't that much power
