1998(not .5) Contour SVT
okay so i just got my superchip a couple days ago, cleaned the terminals on my computer, etc. installed it, and the car doesn't start. red pamphlet that came with it says this might be a problem, and that only 2 jumper connections need to be made. i've been trying to contact them by phone with the numbers supplied, but their offices are closed, and apparently have been for like a week. their website is also down, which concerns me.
i was wondering if anyone else has overcome this problem, and if they'd maybe be willing to take a few photos of the jumper connections on the computer that need to be made, as i was planning on doing it myself anyway.
thanks.

I was pretty sure only the 2000's require the jumer to be soldered on the board, but I could be wring. Sounds like either you didn't clean the connection thorough enough, or it's the wrong code.

I will put in another vote for not cleaning the J3 port well enough.
You need to clean it until the silver metal starts coming off on every pin. The best way to do it is to crack the case.

the silver metal isn't the contact surface? i used the supplied scrubber to get the laquer, and i was at it for a while... then rubbing alcohol to clean any dirt, etc.
what color should it end up being, if not silver?

Use a scotch pad to scrub BOTH sides of the J3 port until the pins turn from copper to silver. No other colour is optional if you want the thing to work.

Never had "the car doesn't start" problems but I used to have major "engine shuts off while driving" problems with my SuperChip. Serious cleaning job cured the problem - knock, knock on the wood.

Just take a look at your chip, your code should be printed there.
