I ran the escort tonight in the 1/8 just for the heck of it since everyone else went out there. I can't launch it worth a crap and it wheel hopped bad to these 60' times. I'm sure it could do 2.2 60' but not likely with me driving. Makes me sorta wary about turboing it (that and the fact that a lsd cost $1600 for it and I would NEED it for autox if I turbo'd it). I think the MPH is a bit low as well. My contour got about the same mph while running 11.0. Probably a bit because of the gearing. I'm hitting the rev limiter in second while crossing the line, but shifting to third would be slower.

60' = 2.3658
330' = 6.8709
594' ET= 9.9060
1/8 ET = 10.5959
1/8 MPH = 65.22

And went to crank the car up after racing was over and it wouldn't start. Battery died. I guess the wheel hopping really killed it, because it then cut off after idling for a minute. Jumped it again and hurried home before it died again (tried to twice on way home, and voltage was jumping up and down, alternator didn't know what to do).

Not meaning to steal the thread but I had a '95 GT Escort once. A K2500 ran into the back of me, doing $7600.00 worth of damage. After putting it back together, the car didn't have one rattle or squeak. I'm glad I didn't let them total it.

I also had a 95 GT and also a 91 GT, they are great little cars and the 1.8l Mazda motor is excellent. I still have my 91 (which is stock) and use it as the grocery getter.

The 95 had Eibachs with tokico struts, GAB strut brace, TSW wheels, K&N custom cold air intake, Borla Exhaust and cutom pearl paint.

My '95GT was stock except for the armrest option and a Pioneer HU and speakers. I know I should have replaced those purple wheels.

I wish I had an armrest and a cd player.

I advanced the timing, cut the muffler off, lowering springs, tokico struts, F and RSTBs, rear sway bar, bushings everywhere, hawk hp + front pads, hps rear pads, SS lines, and removed a resonator off the intake.

There was a later model GT hitting low 17's last year at my track. I used to have a 87 GL sport and it was a clean beater and was so basic it was relaxing. Ohhh so gutless though.

Yeah, the armrest looked kind of neat and it proved itself useful on those long drives. That was my first Pioneer stereo. I liked it a lot.
Only other mod --removed everything but the dash to install extra sound proofing material.
