My girlfriend says her 98 camry (v6) i think will do 140. i think thats just because thats what the speedometer goes up to. Anyone know??? Thanks

My CSVT has 160 on the speedo...will it do 160?

I imagine it has a speed limiter at 130. I'm sure it could get to 140 given a long enough straight and no speed limiter.
Just because a car "can" reach a certain speed doesn't mean much. My car "can" get to 130, but a svt can get to its "top speed" of 143 about 3 hours before my zetec can max out its speedo.

I almost bought an '05 Evo but instead wife and I agreed on a Volvo S40.
That is my next project car, make this volvo a sleeper from hell. It is no EVO for the power but both the wife and I agreed it is much better looking.

Gen 4/4.5 V6 sticks are electronically limited to 131 mph, and they're still pulling a little. I don't see how the slushboxes would be allowed any better, and the gearing would make it harder. I'd be surprised if the 4-banger could ever get there, but I've never had the displeasure of driving one to find out.
Ungoverned a stick V6 *might* touch a smidge over 135...maybe 137 given the power peak and gearing.
None of this is to say that it's any fun to be manning the wheelhouse of a Camry going that speed...
