I wouldn't let the fact that someone crashed keep you from coming out and giving it a try. Yes, as with any form of racing, there is a chance of crashes and mechanical breakdowns. As a matter of fact, that made me nervous too, as I would be screwed if something happened to my car. But I learned it's usually only the highly modified guys (or in this case, high powered stock sports car) that have those kind of issues.

If you're that concerned, you could be like one guy that comes out regularly. He has a brand new 350z that he calls a "show car", and he keeps it in mint condition. When he's making a run, and he gets going too fast, he would rather miss a cone and take a DNF than risk scuffing his paint by hitting a cone!

You should at least come out and watch. We're done for this year, but around Feb. or March we'll start back up again, probably at Drumright again. How far is Enid from Drumright? OKC may be closer to you, but I don't usually make it to those.

Drumright sucked... Stroud was the best. Even the one in tulsa was good. Drumright just isnt big enough and they cant change it up enough.

I agree that Stroud was the best. If it weren't for the weeds growing through the cracks, it would have been perfect. I wish we could still go there, but the owner of the site said NO. Eastland Mall was absolutely the worst. Lot was too small and had too many light poles and then there were the people working in Dillards who didn't want to move their cars. The one at Citiplex wasn't too bad, I wouldn't have minded going there again.

Having them in the city is a double-edged sword. Sure, it's convenient for the participants, but also easy for a bunch of "spectators" to show up. It takes more manpower to control the site and make sure people don't just wander onto the course. And then there's all the cool ricers who find it necessary to race up and down the entrance to the lot and cut donuts in the lot as we're packing up. They don't actually compete in the event, but they are a big factor in why we weren't allowed back!

Drumright wasn't ideal, but I wouldn't say it "sucked". I had a good time both the days I went. I just hope Central Tech doesn't get skiddish about the accident and decide not to let us come back. Cuz it's all we got until TRP builds its lot and I don't know if that's EVER gonna happen!

I find it ironic that both wrecks at Drumright were S2000s.

Hey Rich! Thanks for keeping my thread alive!!! (months after it should have died a natural death)

What other S2000 wrecked? I didn't see that one. BTW, at the event a week before, a WRX hit that same curb. No major damage, just messed up the alignment.

(I'll expect an answer about a month from now.)

3 days short of a month.

I believe it was a red S2k that wrecked at the previous auto-x at that location.

That yellow one sure got trashed.

Ahhh, yeah the red one hit the curb at the event I did not attend.

Well, if it makes you (Rich and Cody) happy, we won't be using that site again. Not because the owners said no, but because our SCCA Divisional Safety steward will not allow it. There's no way to make a completely safe course with that curb there. Back to the drawing board. The first event is late March. Maybe they'll have found a site by then.
