Went onto Zex.com to look for a set up and come to find out that they have cams for the Zetec, pre-98's at least. So i think i've found my set up, 75-shot and severe-street cams, next is to find a nice header to go with it! What do you guys think.....

The Zex cams are rebadged Comp cams and are designed for use with mechanical lifters (post 98 Contours, Foci, and Cougars). You could use them in the pre 98s but there are much better options available.

They told me they were for mechanical lifters (designed for the Focus). If they are for hydraulic, then they could be a very good option for n20 users (like me). Investigation time.

I would believe a manufacturer before I would belive an opinion. I mean after all, they made the product and should know what it fits and what it doesn't.
95 Contour, Custom EVO bodykit, 2.0l, PNP Focus head, Stage 2 cams, Je pistons, Eagle rods, 4in1header, 2.5" header back exhaust(complete stainless), D P nitrous, ram air intake, 10mm wires, flamethrower.

Cams should (theoreticaly) work regardless of lifter type. But thats not always the case. Thats why manufacturers specify what lifter their cam works best with. The Zex representative I spoke to (over a year ago) said they were designed for the Focus and Cougar with mechanical lifters. The Zex cams are meant to use the stock valve train components and do not require lash adjustments. So due to the self adjusting nature of hydraulic lifters they will not work properly.
My advice; stick with what the manufacturer specifies.
