With the recent addition of several clutch lines by SPEC, I've recieved a couple PMs regarding their prices. The Options in dicussion are the NEW Stage 2+ edition and the NEW Stage 3+ eddition. Here is what SPEC has written up about them: Quote:
Stage 3+ Features a streetable high clamp pressure plate and full face carbon semi-metallic disc. Listed as an upgrade to the stage 3, it offers torque capacities more comparable to the stage 5 but with drivability equal to, and in some cases better than, the stage 3. The high capacity and excellent drivability characteristics of this clutch is a result of years of research and development for this SPEC exclusive disc compound.
My SPEC representative has informed me that these clutches are capapable of handling a great deal of torque over the regular, while still having obtaining equal to or even better drivability than their "not plus (+)" siblings.
I've sold one of the Stage 3+ to a CEG member, however I'm uncertain as to when he will be installing it. I"m sure he'll give us a full report when its in.
So yeah...Here they are:
Stage 2+ = $403 Stage 3+ = $476
They are a bit expensive, however my SPEC rep claims they are tip top.
As for the more traditional:
2.5L Duratec
Flywheel *by itself* = $375
Stage 1 = $272 Stage 2 = $337 Stage 3 = $355 Stage 4 = $360 Stage 5 = $400
2.0L Zetec
Flywheel *by itself* = $405
Stage 1 = $279 Stage 2 = $310 Stage 3 = $325 Stage 4 = $325 Stage 5 = $370
Same rules as always apply. PM me if you need anything

Yes it is the Stage 2 that has the Kevlar...
As far as the Stage 2+, I haven't gotten a write up, however I believe the rep told me that the Kevlar in the 2+ was on the flywheel side while the 3+ was a full faced disc.
I can verify this tomorrow...

I asked that same question a couple of months ago before I ordered my SPEC Stage One. A manager at SPEC said that the Slave Cylinder/Throw-Out Bearing is indeed the Ford OEM part.
When comparing the component to the 10-year old factory one, it looked identical (except for a green dust cover instead of an orange dust cover).
Most installation instructions won't tell you this (besides the torque stuff), but do the following when installing the part:
- Put a thin bead of Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker around the rubber seal at the base of the Slave Cylinder. - Put a thin layer of Gasket Maker (I used the Permatex 'Ultra Black' stuff) on the flat base of the Slave Cylinder. - Torque the bolts to the specified torque setting
If the Slave Cylinder is going to leak, it'll do it fairly soon after installation. Several CEGer's have had the misfortune of having it spring a leak -- it's a lot of work to tear it back apart to fix it again. In some cases the error was that they had not lubed the rubber seal at the base of the Slave Cylinder. If you don't use a (slippery before it dries) gasket maker on that seal, at a minimum use a little bit of ATF fluid to help the seal slide into place.
My Stage One is almost "broken in." The first 100 miles were tough, as engagement was abrupt and a little unpredictable. By 250 miles it started to engage more smoothly. Now at 400+ miles, engagement is getting very close to OEM, although it can bite harder than the stock clutch ever did. Breaking in a new Torsen at the same time has made for a NOISY break-in period, but even that is quieting down.

Sorry I missed this...
But yes, SPEC has assured me that they are FORD OEM and come in a FORD OEM box.
Let me know if you need anything else
Most orders ship to you in under a week from payment.
Thanks

Alright, I have the info on the Stage 2+ now: The SPEC rep said: "The 2+ has pucks on the presure plate side of the disc and kevlar on the flywheel side as oppossed to the regular Stage 2 that simply has kevlar on both sides." So yeah...that cleared up now Thanks RamMotorsports
