Well, so far I am thinking of heading down the turbo road with my Zetec...but I was wonderin if going to a 3L Duratec would be a good decision...i'm guessing I would need a new tranny (right?), but I was thinking of a Stage 3 turbo for the zetec, which would run me some money, so i'm wondering how the price for tranny and engine and what-not would compare to the turbo?

or are there any other engines that I can swap?

Either option will more than likely cost you the same. My suggestion is to get the turbo and send your transmission to Level 10. Mainly because it's the easiest way to go.

If you want the 3.0 Duratec and an MTX you will need to find a donor 97-98 car to get the parts from since it's going to require quite a few extra parts. The reason I specify those two years are for the fuel return style some of the 99 were returnless.

As long as you have the money and convictions to follow it through you should have one hell of a car either way you go. I applaude any effort in either direction!

which way do you guys recommend I go? Personally, the 4 banger would be funnier cuz people would get hella pissed when they lose to a 4 banger smile

yeah, i'm plannin on workin my ass off this summer for the turbo and other mods. i am the ONLY student at my school with a contour, and, well, I plan on a) leaving a mark of the contour at my school and b) winning the car show awards for best mods, best domestic, best audio, and best overall smile

it's gonna suck workin for the money, but once I drop that turbo in, it will all be worth it laugh

is that a direct swap or would other parts need to be replaced also?

screw the 3L unless you wanna work out all the mechanical problems you can have... just have terry hook you up with a turbo and have 200-300hp... 300hp would be way more than a 3l can push out unless you wanna add a SC to and...

Go turbo. Once you hear that sucker spool, you'll know you made the right decision!

ummm more parts than it would be worth to do... for a base of ~40 hp over the stock Zetec...

Do what Lee said. Turbo the engine from Terry, and "fix" the tranny with Level Ten.
