I know there is non-Albertans here too but it would be good to hear about this subject from you guys too.
So what are your thougts about the $400 rebate? good or bad idea...
this could be $1200 for me, my wife, and me son "MY WIFE AND I JUST HAD A BABY BOY LAST WEEKEND" born on September 17 in Edmonton just missed my wife's and my birthday by 6 days

Personally I would like to see the money go somewhere else instead.
1. Free and better health care for an example, i pay $88 a month and another $116 for blue cross. Free provincial health care is something most non-Albertan Canadains enjoy.
2. Our population is aging so soon enough this money will be needed, if invested now it could pay the increased medical care for our parents rather than us paying higher taxes when the time comes.
I can think of many other issues that need to be funded better like education. how many of you guys got out of university or college with student loans.

with all this said if the Alberta Government decides to throw the money to every Albertan to spend. I will be putting the money into a registered education savings plan for my son and applying for the Alberta Centennial Grant.

Fully agreed. I think it is absolute ridiculous waste of money. What happens when we run out of oil and become a have not province? And when it comes down to it, what's $400 anyways? I bet the most of us will just use it as an excuse to spend more and it will end up costing then more than $400 and have nothing to show for it....

Im buying Headers with it... so its cool with me. I dont think the 400 bucks is a good way to spend the money, i think we should put it towards lowering the damn natural gas prices.

call me jaded but it sounds like a vote bribe to me. As for health care, its not totally free, taxes in ontario went up last year to offset some increases, though it wasnt much it still happened. We really need healthcare reworked to address our aged population, I dont want it to turn into a pay as you go thing. sorry, just things like that kinda get me riled.

As much as i would like that I don't think it would be very helpful to low income family that rent and don't pay heating bills. this would be helpful to property owner like me that had a gas price as high as $265/month last winter and probably double that this winter.
Better health care is still on the top of my list and some will argue that lower income families don't pay Alberta Health care premiums. Well what about free Blue Cross for all Albertans, that will help everyone especially the elderly and even someone like me wouldn't have to pay $116 a month for coverage. Then I can use that money toward higher heating bills, now these kinda of ideas are helpful to everyone.
think about a abusive/gambling parent blowing the $400 in casinos, VLT's, drugs, or booze
