I'd love to.
I've never dragged at that track, but I've been there. John went there a few months back as well. Maybe I could meet you there some time.

It's super nice. I ran my car a dozen or so times, but I think I finally got the best summer time out of it. A pathetic 18.7
But, yeah, let me check the website for a good day. Sometimes it's just those crotch rockets. They are open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

This week and next week are both open. On October 15th there is the Night of Fire event. I went to that last year. It was pretty cool, cuz they brought out a bunch of muscle cars and a turbofan-powered Kenworth Long Cab. It was so fun watching, and not too long either.

Yeah, there are always fast bikes out there. Almost every time I go out there I see a Buel or a Hayabusa. There is always someone to race out there.

It costs $10 per person to watch, 15 to race. Anyday is open for me guys. It would be pretty cool to see that many contours in one place. Also, I can probably get my friend to go with us. He drives a '00 Tour SE....Zetec . Don't ask me how he got hold of a Non-V6 SE. Afterwards, maybe we could all go to an IHOP or something?

Oh don't worry about looking ridiculous. I've already scored that one. An Anemic-looking kid in an ATX Zetec Mercury with Radial T/As and Merc-O-Matic in static letters on the windshield. I promise you, anyone would look less ridiculous next to my car.

It isn't about a competition; Its about learning to drag YOUR car. Don't get hung up on trying to be the first down the lanes, and you'll have alot more fun. Just use the runs to hone your skills.
If you run, you'll beat me. I guarantee it. I don't know if I can make it, but I would certainly like to try!
Let's get more definitive on the dates and I will see what we can do.

OK the poll isn't going to work with an even number of people, so I guess we will all just have to decide on a date that is good for everybody. Here is the Track Schedule. There won't be an open Saturday for quite some time, so Wednesdays and Fridays are pretty much our only option.

Hey dude thats cool that you found someone into you, when I met my wife the only thing she knew about a car is that it takes you from here to there. Now since I'm fixing up her car, even though it's a civic, She's totally into racing and watching punks eat her dust in her rear view mirror as she speeds away. Point being is that you never Know till you try, like the way you like wearing her panties when no ones around, j/j. Anyways, yeah lets pick a date and meet up. Got two from Austin down to go.

Alright, As I said before both the 26th and 28th are the closest days that will still give a two weeks notice. Both me and my friend, who drives a '00 SE Zetec ATX will go for sure, so there is two from the New Braunfels/San Marcos area. Plus, I'll get my friend to bring his P71 out too. Hopefully we can get many CEG ers to go.

28th it is then. I don't think too many people look at this thread anymore. Anyway, I'll get the guys down here together, and see if I can't pull any more. I know a guy with a '98 Corvette that might want to go too.

Alright guys, the track opens at 6:00, the timed runs start at 6:30. What time do ya'll want to meet up? 7:00 or so? Do ya'll want to meet up before we get to the track?

Me and my friends live in-between Marion and you Austin guys so we could probably meet up with ya'll on ya'lls way down. If you guys meet us in New Braunfels we can head out from there. The path I take goes from NB to Seguin to Marion. I guess we could meet up at the Chilis or the Kohls or the Chicken Express or something. If we met up there, I could probably snag some food for you guys . How does 7:00 or 7:30 sound? That sucks Ray. How's the kid by the way?

Actually, yeah if ya'll guys meet up at Chilis, I'll just bring the food there. It's right off the highway, exit 190B I think....You gotta be careful though because it comes up on you guys faster than it should due to construction. THen just follow the access road until you get to that intersection at the underpass and turn left. Chilis should be right there. You guys want chicken on the bone or tenders?

Tenders it is. I'll snag about 30 or so. I got an "%90 Positive on my P71 friend going, and a 100% on my SE friend going. I told him to bring his girlfriend and her Cougar too. She's a pretty shoddy driver. Oh well. I am like super psyched about this. CEG INVADES MARION!

SWEET!!!!
Don't worry about runnin' man. I'll run enough times for the both of us:D
SO we now have 6 Contours for sure going. This is gonna be so awesome. Chicken Tenders alright with you Ray?
After Edit: Oh, anyone have a Digital camera they can bring? My friend has a digital camcorder we will make a video of this with, but some stills would be cool too. If not, I have a 35mm, but you guys know how poor those pictures come out when transferred to digital...
Let's show everyone what Texas CEG looks like!
Oh, Ray. They sell bags of Ice there to cool ya down!

Chicken tenders are good!!!!!!
I'll probably run, if I can convince myself to do it. (Marion is a long way from home to break down!!! ) Don't get me wrong, I drive the piss out of the car on a daily basis, but the track is so much stickier....
I have a POS Kodak 3.2.. (I gave Jenna the 6Mp Canon Eos to take to Florida for 3 weeks!!!!)
I have a sony Digicam, too... I'll be bringing that.

Sorry GS, I almost forgot about you. You're in San Antonio right? You can either meet up with us in New Braunfels around 7:00(really out of the way for you though...) or just meet us there. If everything goes to plan, we should be there a little before 8:00. Just keep an eye out for a sudden streaming-in of half-decade old Ford sedans coming in through the gates. I'll save you guys some food. Did you get your friend to come GS?

They close at 11:00 . Most of the people don't even get there until 7:30 or so.
I hope there isn't any rain that day. If not, the cool weather should give us some fantastic times.

Seriously, that is nasty. Looks like you could use a carport or a car cover. Or a shotgun. Or a nest of bird-eating lizards... Yeah, I'm going to have to clean up mine too. It's a mess in and out...

Ok so we're in the home stretch now. I'm so ready to just bust out and go already! Now to clarify the times. Friday, 28th of October. Austinites meet with SM and NB guys at around 7:00-7:30. San Antonians and people closer to Marion meet up with the rest of the group around 8:00 or so. At that point we will terrorize the track with late-model Ford sedans. I will bring chicken tenders from my work, and maybe soda. There is food and drink for sale and bags of ice at the track if ya'll need it. Heres a Map To the Track for those who don't know where it is. Entry fee per person is $10 to watch, $15 to race. Don't worry about bracket racing just go for the test and tune. I will have a camcorder, and Ray has a digital camera, and these pics WILL be going on this website, so make sure your car looks the way you want others to see it! We will take pictures! Beware! Just kidding. Let's make this one to remember!

You know where Chilis is right? we're meeting there around 7:00-7:30. It's right down the road from there. If you take the access road in front of the big 'ol Ford dealership, keep going until you see a big Chilis sign. That's the spot. We'll be there. Chicken will be there. CEG will ride!!!

Well.. coming from Blanco, I will probably not make the 7:30(??) time to meet in NB (is that when it is, again?)
However, I will try to make that meeting.. if not, I'll be headed down, straight to the track, should I miss you guys in NB.
The Chili's is on the same road as the walmart? (I know there is a McD's at the corner, there, by 35, and the walmart is across the street, but further than that, I am lost.
Anyone have an address, or some directions for someone NOT from the NB/SanMar area?

Ok. you are at WalMart. you will see two main roads and an intersection. Take the road that runs alongside the highway and toward Bluebonnet Ford dealorship. Stay on this road thru one stop light. keep going straight after that light. on your right you will see an old Lubys and a Kohls after the apartment complex. Keep going straight to the next intersection. You will see the Chilis.
I'm sure no one will mind waiting for you Ray. I guess we could extend the time to meet up to around 7-8. Will that be enough time? If not just tell me. I'll be there at 7. Just give us a heads up and we'll wait for ya. I'll send you a PM with the # you can reach me at on that day.
It's getting closer to track time guys!

You need to be in the center lane. If you guys are lost, just call me and I'll guide ya through, or come get you myself.
So the meetup is between 7-8. If ya'll hit any traffic, just call me. I'll wait.

Sweetness. Mine's feeling good too. She did a smoky burnout on a slight incline with e-brake assistance. This isn't the hill I was talking about before, but just a small like 15-degree incline. Tee-Hee. I'll show you guys a sneak preview of the "Hill Video" at the meet. Just think, ya'll get to see something before the rest of CEG does! A four-cylinder ATX Mystique "...burning up two perfectly good BFGs..."(Hill Movie quote)I am super pumped-up about this guys. I will try to clean my car out, but I think I'll hold on to the tools and jackstand just in case something happens with one of ya'lls cars. Keep an eye out for this guys car. I think I'm the only Merc going...
This is gonna be sweet!

Dang dude where did all the guano go? Looks clean dude! actually, that pic of my Merc is from some months back. It now says Merc-0-Matic in white letters on the windshield, and I've got a (literally) bastardized oval tip on there now. I had some white "97"s on the passenger windows but my sister pulled them off and told me to stop watching NASCAR so much....

Home safe, all.
Thanks for meeting up with me. Sorry I had to leave so quickly. got a call from the parents saying that my wife called about our little girl. I was panicked, and wanted to get out of there, and get home to find out what was up. She's fine, but better safe than sorry. I only got one run in, but its better than nothing.
Glad to see all of you guys.. check in, and let me know you guys made it home safe.

This must have been done at night. The video came out too dark. You can't really see the cars very well. Any more pics?

Yeah. I'm okay. Josh ran over someone else though ! J/K We both got back fine. I kinda got rerouted there to San Marcos, and ended up going to NB from SM. ehhhh. I've gotta get Shawn to burn me the video already so I can edit it....
I had fun guys! We should do another one sometime. Or maybe a cruise?

Yeah I'm ready to go again, this time a full tune up(uim/lim tb cleaning) is in order. About getting home, that little green civic wanted to race on I-10, I'll give him this much great take off but on the top end he ain't got sh**, left him in the dust in 4th, when will he learn. My boy in his lightning ran a 13.1 even with a 1.6 reaction time. But it was his first time racing. He's ready to go again too.

A few things:
1. Reaction time affects 1/4 time in NO way. 2. Let's keep our street stories to ourselves, or PMs, so this thread can stay open.
Glad you guys had fun. I'll do it again whenever you guys want to!

Whoah guys, let's not get our panties in a wad. I don't really think the reaction time means too much to slower cars, but on things like funny cars, etc., I'm sure that extra 10th of a second actually doees something for them. As for me, the reaction time seems inverse to my quarter mile time, ala my 18.4 run was on a 1.12, whereas my 18.6 run was on an .89. I seriously don't think it holds much effect for my car at least...
Oh, and I have the video on a CD now. I'll try to get it on here when I can get to my dorm and its ethernet connection. I can't even think about doing it on this dial-up at home...

I'm not "not calm".. I was just saying.
Reaction time has NOTHING to do with 1/4 time.. you can wait at the lights for 2 minutes before moving after the tree flips and you will still run a 15.xx (or whatever you were going to run...)

I've got to get a way to get that video up on the site. It's massive, even in cut-down form...
