This past winter I purchased 195 60R15 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50s. They worked extremely well for me in "Winter Wonderland" Michigan. I was very impressed with their performance in any type of winter condition whether it was light or deep snow or ice. As far as when the roads were in good condition, they obviously weren't as good as summer tires. They felt a bit squishy and it didn't help that they a size narrower to help dig in the snow. But honestly I don't care about that, I tried to drive more conservatively with the Blizzaks on to help extend their life.
Overall, I would highly reccomend the Blizzak WS-50s. I paid around $100 per tire for them at Belle Tire.

i will have a look at the blizzac to see the price here n where i can have them, but since im using 16" they should be more expensive

Save your 16" alloys for summer. If I were you, I'd pick up a cheap set of 15" alloys for your winter tires. They are lighter so you'll get better gas mileage and also you will have better handling in the snow if they are narrower. Also, I believe that 15" winter tires are substantially cheaper.

I did not think 15" would fit on a SVT? I run cheapy snows on my 16" in the winter and run focus 17" in the summer.

Not really - cheap 15s may or may not be any lighter, and one or two pounds of rotating mass is not going to affect your gas mileage in any discernable way. Now going from ATS Comp Lites in 15x7 to 20s could put you from 40 to 60lbs per wheel, and cost you a few mpg, but anything less than extreme will probably not hurt fuel economy. Performance, maybe. But performance is measured in thousandths of a second, either at the strip or the autocross, so a tiny difference can mean a lot there. I'm all for light wheels, but let's at least be honest about what a few pounds of rotating mass can do on a street car.

Michelin "Pilot" Alpins, P205/60/15 is the best set-up for your winter driving needs. They're "H" speed rated (130 mph) and I can vouge for 115 mph w/ NO problems. This tire doesn't handle like a snow tire, but actually is a true snow tire, the best of both worlds
