I just put a set of Bendix Titaniums on the front of my 98 ATX. What a pain to get the rusted rotors off, but that is another story. After I took it out for a test drive the brakes on both sides were smoking. Is this because the blue stuff on the pads has to wear off?

If you didn't spray down the rotors with brake cleaner then you're burning off the protective oil coating on the rotors!

They were not that hot. Several stops at 30-40 MPH just to make sure every thing felt right. Yes cleaned them with brake cleaner. That is SOP.

They still smoke? I'm curious to find out if it was just a film.

Once I got my front rotors to turn blue , is that ok? Dat was fun, except for the spongy pedel feel after.

No more smoke. It must have been the blue stuff on the pads being worn off. Stops great. New rotors and pads make it stop like new.

I got mine, all 4 corners, rotors and pads, from Stazi over 2 years ago. They are still going strong and stops very well. I especially like their modulatability(sp?) during hard stops. Good one, Stazi.

while i am not an expert, i rather doubt it. i am on my second set of bendix ti pads and neither time did my brakes start smoking. not even during my easter romp through ortega hwy, 22 miles of twisty mountain two lane road. and stazi is definately the man for replacement brakes.
