Well last Friday evening I went to the drag strip all excited and wanting to potentially beat my previous time at the strip. I went all out this time and stripped my interior down to the bare metal and swapped out my seats for lighter weight racing seats. I did a little on street tuning and got my AFR to a nice 11.5:1 on the juice. I street tune with an LM-1. I have an AFCII as well.
My previous best time was a
14.6@94 mph. Since that run I have added an Extrude Honed UIM and SVT TB combo. I also was running a 65 shot jetting back then, but now am running a 75 shot (and mixed 2 gallons of 114octane). I head to the strip and make 4 runs with breaks in between icing down the UIM , coolant tank, and intake. I dont have the time slips with me, but my times were as follows:
15.2 @ 97mph
Second Run
15.19@ 96mph
Third and Best Run
14.9@ 98.8mph
Now what confuses me is, I ran a 14.9 with full interior and a passenger in the car before with a best time of 14.6! Now I couldnt break a 14.9 with a stripped interior. What is going on? I noticed my trap speed was about on average +5 mph different from three months ago. I dont feel like im loosing a ton of traction after the second run? I got brand new Kumho Ecsta tires installed last month. Someone had mentioned at the track that everyone was runnign slow because the humidity was high? Im wanting to head back in 3-4 weeks to try and attempt it again, but this is really getting on my nerves. I feel that the car can pull a low 14. If my best time ever was a 14.9 I would think it was a fluke that I broke into the 14s but I was DEAD in the MID 14s prior to this last track meet. If it makes any difference I have an ATX slushbox. No wisecracks about it either, I didnt ask for them. And if anyone refutes the 14.6 run or calls BS on me, the video is in my sig.
Can anyone provide me with some insight on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Nemesis
