okay, I've been wondering about this for a while now (since the whole power-shifting debate) and I've really gotta know the answer.

How exactly is rev-matching going to be beneficial in drag racing??

I did a Google search and found many references to rev-matching, but in reference to the double-clutch procedure during deceleration while road racing (which made sense to me) or during the operation of a non-synchronized transmission.

I must be missing something, because the best I can assume is that rev-matching during acceleration would entail:

gas -> clutch in -> shift neutral -> wait for revs to fall -> shift to next gear -> clutch out -> gas

Let me also say I'm not a proponent of power-shifting either, I'm shift "normal" I'm just trying to understand how exactly rev-matching works to increase times in drag racing circumstances and how it really differs from "normal" shifting.

I believe rev-macthing is only to reduce the amount ot stress applied on the syncros. Only leading to longer life. Which our syncrhos wear out extremley quick!! mine 55,000!!

Now powershifting would be what you want for drag racing!!!

Pus the gas down and keep it down. THen never let it go even during shifts!! Now your times will increase for sure!!

Uhm... I don't think your times increasing would be a good thing..

U recomend powershifting for daily driving then?

If you drag race then that is where u should use this!!
And of course we all know doing this will break something, that has been said a thousand times. Are we still going to cover this topic again!!

IT does sound bad. Man it feels good in a clucthless transmission!!

nope, i do not recommend it at all but that is not the point. i was simply pointing out that lisa kubo, a top notch drag racer, does not do it herself because she finds it does nothing other than cause excess wear and tear on parts without decreasing 1/4 mile times any appreciable amount.

eh, i don't think rev matching and drag racing belong in the same sentence.

that sure is what it is sounding like to me too, but supposedly rev matching is supposed to be faster, but nobody seems to be able to explain it for me...
