I was thinking of putting some lights into the the trunk lid reflector. The thing is there and it looks all pretty but it only really serves a design change to make the car look different. But the thing I want to know if I wire lights into it and turn them on at night and keep the bulbs dimmer then the brakes/turn signals, is this legal?

You could always get pretty creative and put some sweeping lights or some sequential turnsignals in it as well. The sweepers won't be legal for driving, but the sequential turnsignals would be.

True.
I also like the idea of putting in a row or something of LEDs that actually light up as you brake or signal. It would definetly look cool. If anything I would say that woule be safter too, making the car much more visible.

Safer and it would still be custom looking. Besides, as long as the lens over what your lighting with has a DOT # in raised molded letters your fine. The cops would be VERY hard pressed to ticket you. Most wouldn't waste thier time.

You know.. like .2354 or .72 or .3 J/K... DOT = Department of Transportation. IE, certified to be a safe, and legal means of lighting, or lense material. Ray
