Actually no. And a damn good question. Has nothing to do with price.
The differences are based on the thickness of the Teflon hose inner and the weave of the braided outer.
Some offer thicker Teflon, others have more and finer weave. This become apparent (sp?) when making hand made hoses that require the olive be fit to a certain hose size. Sometimes it's tight other times it's not.
Each of the 'big four'; Earls, Aeroquip, Russell, Goodridge, each claim to have the proper package. (big surprise huh?)
The reality is that ANY of them are superior to the rubber hose. But reality also is that the average consumer would never know one from the other...
