I ordered a set of Reybestos semi-metallic rear brake pads, and it came with four of them in the box. I take it that is a mistake? Or is there 4 for a reason? They all look exactly the same to me.

Two for each rear wheel.

Why is that? Is one for the ebrake? I always thought all 4 wheels had one pad each.

Inner and outer edge of each rotor.

You can't see the inner ones with the caliper/wheels on the car.

Note: When you take the caliper off, the caliper piston TWISTS to get larger, to allow the new (and obviously thicker) pads to slide on the rotor. loosen the bleeder valve and twist the caliper piston (with needlenose, etc) to screw it in smaller

Imagine gripping a bolt with a pair of pliers. The portion in contact with the bolt is the pad and the bolt is the disc.
