Anyone done it? I'm considering it, and I'd like to know how much it weighs, and how hard it is to get out the compressor/condensor.
I know it doesn't suck power when off, I know it will hurt my defrost, I don't want people telling me why I need it.

If you remove everything (compressor, accumulator, lines, condensor, brackets, etc) you save ~22lbs.
22lbs by itself is not noticeable.

Hmm, sounds good. Any ideas how much of a pain it is? T/C + A/C + door ding strips + chrome strips + battery->dynabatt + mats/spare,etc = significant. I'll post when I'm done

Carpet, sound deadening, pass. seat and rear seat, door panels. Just go nuts with it. Full all out race. I would like to see someone get that crazy with their contour, as long as its not an SVT. -tropictour

STS legal, man. If this car ever becomes a track whore I'll go wild, but for now I've got to stay within the rules. Or at least close.

Condensor, accumulator, compressor, and most of the lines equaled about 24lbs out of my car. Not worth it, especially if you have working a/c. Not hard to take out at all if you know what you're doing and have the right tools.

just had a strange fight with my compressor. try getting THOSE bolts anywhere except the dealer...then see if any dealers keep them stocked whatever. it wasn't that bad, kinda awkward ratcheting out though, and the bolts are a little long, but not hard... don't you have to have it professionally discharged though?

negligable, 22lbs, nada, nada, 25lbs, 22lbs = ~70lbs. Of which 50lbs (~71%) are from 2 easy things. (jacks/mats & Dynabatt)
The stock sound deadoning is negligable weight. It's that cheap thin absorption stick on.
You definitely want to look into my post on weight reduction. Some of your ideas are going to hurt the weight balance of the car. That will upset handling significantly more then the small weight decrease helps acceleration from a stop. Along the same lines as why you road race/autocross with a full tank of fuel.

I suppose it's because I'm from texas, but I cannot, for the life of me, begin to understand what would poses someone to remove the A/C from their car.
