I have a 98 CSVT with 67,500 miles on it. The other day I went to the dealership to buy some new spark plugs and wires. Today I went to put the new plugs and wires on my car and I think that the dealership may have given me the wrong plugs. The plugs that came out of the car read AWSF-32F on the spark plug itself, the new spark plugs read AGSF-32FM followed by 4M on the side. The plugs look identical except for a longer thread surface on the new plug. I guess my question is will this plug work and what difference is there between the two spark plugs. I am not sure if Ford made a change or if the Mr. Knowitall service rep gave me the wrong plugs.
On another note while I am here I have a question about the B & M short throw shifter. My brother bought one for me for my birthday and decided to put it in for me. everything works quite well except for the reverse lockout. I don't know if he didn't install it properly or what but the lockout is no longer needed to put the car into reverse. I took it apart and looked at it and the shifter does not go below the lockout plate in the car rendering the lockout useless. Just wondering if anyone has done the install and had a similar problem.
Any help with these two problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Kip

They can be found at Autozone for $3.99 each.
You don't want either. You had fine-wire plats, and got I don't know what. You want those double-plats listed above.

The FAQ, sadly, is out of date as is your advice.
The dealership gave you the correct plugs. Consult www.motorcraft.com for the most current factory recommended service replacement parts.
The Autolites will work very well, the new -FM fine wire plug is the Ford-recommended replacement.

So the plugs they gave him are double-plats? It sure doesn't look that way to me. And it's been discussed many times that fine wire is not the way to go with a waste-fire system. And the Autolite number is not out-of-date, I just bought some.

Please re-read my reply more carefully.
The FAQ is out of date. It has not been updated to reflect the most current Motorcraft service replacement part. I did not indicate that the Autolite plug was out of date, indeed I indicated that it is entirely suitable for this application. In fact, my wife's car has been running them for almost three years and 40K miles.
The usage of the fine-wire design negates the requiremant for double platinum tips. Service life is expected to be of similar duration as the double-platinum design. Perform a SEARCH on "fine-wire" for previous discussions that you might have missed that covered this in depth.
I have not seen any relevent discussions on this or any other forum that fine-wire plugs were unsuitable for waste spark systems as this is counter to all informed discussions I have seen. Please do more research.

I know the thread(s) where you argued for single-plats. My single plats burned the ground electrode in one bank much more than double plats with the same mileage. So in my experience, double plats stay gapped longer. Fine wire plugs will work fine, yes, but I cannot believe the will last as long as a double plat. I know the advantages of a fine wire, and if they made a double-plat fine-wire, I'd use them. But they only make single-plats that will wear out quicker.

These will work. My friend works for a Ford dealer and he told me they were superseded to this new FM part #. I put them in two days ago and it runs Great!!! Really smooth idle and plenty of power.

I have never advocated for "single-plats". These are not to be confused with the fine-wires (which are of a single-platinum electrode design that is quite different from conventional "single-plats").
The fine-wire design allows the spark gap to be jumped at lower voltages which slows the rate erosion of the electrodes.

I know. But like I said: the only fine-wires available are single plats. That's the kicker for me.
