Stazi, From the searching I've done, it seems most recommend QTS > .50 and Xmax 9-11 mm. I might have to snag that MTX at that price - good find.

IMO the Free-air setup sounds better than a sub in the trunk.... At least from what i've seen. We should have some good sounding setups... What exactly does the higher QTS buy you??

I'm considering doing away with my huge box w/ 2 12's in it and switching to a IB/ free air setup with two 10's on the rear shelf, i'm curious as to how comparable in SQ it would be.

You will have a hard time fittin gmore than one sub on the rear shelf. For one, you would have to cut another hole for the second speaker, since there is only one curently. Second, the seatbelt hump gets in the way.

Path914, No need to cut another hole. Just make a 5 sided box with the drivers firing at each other on opposite sides (like buztagrymes box) and you get the added benefit of making the motion of the driver parallel to the surface they are mounting to which results in lower distortion.

Dave, I completely agree, and Grymes box kicks major a** (I love illusion audio ), however in this thread I have been keeping with the notion that they are looking for free-air applications only. Once you start to introduce suspended boxes the options increase dramtically. I am currently building a horn sub application for my car, btw...

Do you have a picture of what kind of box you are talking about, I don't quite understand how this would look Thanks

they would still be free air in the application that dave is mentioning.
