Today I started the process of pulling things down in order to replace the Intake Manifold Gasket on my Zetec 2.0L, however, I am presently stuck due to the fact that I do not know how to disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold. I am therefore using this medium to solicit the assistance from you usual helpful folks in solving this problem i.e. â??how is the brake booster vacuum hose disconnected from the intake manifoldâ?? The usual helpful response will be greatly appreciated.

Supposedly you can PUSH on this plastic ring on the intake manifold and PULL out the brake line. I tried that 10,000,000 different ways and couldn't get it out.

The easiest way in my opinion is to use a razor knive and slit the line at the brake booster and the one-way valve. You can then remove the 6" piece of hard plastic line. You can replace it later with some 3/8" heater hose and a couple of spring clamps.

BTW, don't yank on that plastic piece that goes into the manifold. Of you get this...

LOL! Thanks!

I forgot to mention earlier... The easiest way to get ALL of the gunk out of the intake manifold is to soak in Castrol Superclean. That stuff is GREAT! I want to Wal-Mart and cleaned off the shelf. I think I used 9 gallons and completely dunked the intake manifold in it. A day later and the thing looked brand spanking new. (I think it was like $3 a gallon, so $30 total wasn't too bad.)

BTW, you need 1/2" heater hose, not 3/8". I goofed.
