my girls cavalier was acting up on me today....i was goin up hill with the ac on and it started spuutering, then the temp gauge dropped down to cold then went back up to normal reading....any idea what this is....no cel or anything...

I agree. If the alternator wasnt putting out its required power and you are running power hungry accessories the battery is all it would have left. When the car needed more rpms (and more power) to go up the hill, it was in trouble.

It doesnt take much to let things be noticeable. My alternator died recently. The battery still had over 12V when I had it tested but I had already noticed that my signals were not flashing anymore (all LEDs, very low power consumption).

would that explain the temp gauge acting up?it dropped to C then slowly crawled back up to normal temp....that happened a couple times.

I can see that happening. When the battary is low on our contours the speedo flys around like a madman and the wipers go on. Why I have no idea but it is kind of amusing. At least we can tell when we have a battery prob.

well we took it in(dealer) and it was a wiring issure....one connector was melted bad and a couple wires were fugged up....cost me 85 bucks, for 3 hours....not bad at all....saved me time to get my stuff done for Chicken Wing Zing 05 tonight.
