Post your dyno gains and,or 1/4 mile gains from lightened flywheel. I put a Fidanza flywheel in my 99 SVT and didnt go any faster at the strip. Track conditions were similar car temp was low, 60 ft was similar. Car feels faster but isnt.

Your going to need to adjust the way you launch the cars. Most likely the RPM at launch will need to be raised to be as effective as previous, which may negate the 'gains' from the flywheel due to traction issues....

Some of us get a lighter FW for AutoX/Road course. Car will rev faster.

Which is where it should be used. And the main reason why my first go around I went with the SS flywheel (15lbs) Not as likght as the SPEC / Fidanza(8-9lbs).

Using a rough estimate by memory.

Dropping 10 lbs equates to roughly 15 HP in 1st, 8 in 2nd, 3 in 3rd, and 1 in 4th.

In other words you won't be able to tell a significant difference on a dyno.
Maybe a little trap speed in the 1/8th that also carries to the 1/4 mile.

It will make the car require a higher rpm clutch slip to generate the same launch so unless you nail a launch the power difference in 1st will be hard to see as well.

For instance think about it this way.

1st = 2 seconds
2nd = 4 seconds
3rd = 8 seconds
4th = 1 second

There is your typical 15 second 1/4 mile run. The bulk of which is done in 3rd alone.

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

i put a fidanza in mine and it definitely made a difference in gear while accelerating. however i had a clutch put in at the same time so a direct comparison cant be made. i did have to launch higher though to deep from bogging.

yes by it being more for autox is good for faster revs but being lighter should help on the track as well. i meen the lighter the car the faster you will go,thats why for next years fun ford weekend i will have my lsd and clutch,press plate,flywheel done and have the cf hood and trunk lid on there and i will have only 1 seat inside the car, everything else will be removed. less weight/faster times

Not for dragging racing, especially for a car that can't hook up.

As I said earlier, our cars can't hook up (decently at least) with a stock drive train. You lighten the flywheel you launch RPM is going to INCREASE so you don't 'bog' the engine. That is most likely going to increase tire spin as well. Once you get 'hooked up' then yes it could/should benefit you. Will it out weigh the time lost in the 60ft? probably not...

A heavier flywheel, you can lower the launch rpm and 'hook' better.

Now, if you had a car that hooked up very well and you could put handle the upped rpm launch then yes, most likely you'd see gains through out. However, on our cars, that isn't going to happen...

you are 100% right, but with the right amount of vht you can hook just not at high rpm's

wrong idea here bud. its not for overall weight loss, its for less rotational mass. you need some schoolin'!
