Not for dragging racing, especially for a car that can't hook up.
As I said earlier, our cars can't hook up (decently at least) with a stock drive train. You lighten the flywheel you launch RPM is going to INCREASE so you don't 'bog' the engine. That is most likely going to increase tire spin as well. Once you get 'hooked up' then yes it could/should benefit you. Will it out weigh the time lost in the 60ft? probably not...
A heavier flywheel, you can lower the launch rpm and 'hook' better.
Now, if you had a car that hooked up very well and you could put handle the upped rpm launch then yes, most likely you'd see gains through out. However, on our cars, that isn't going to happen...
