New Fuel Filter w/ white retaining clips
Flathead Screw Driver
Towel/Catch Can for excess fuel
1) Remove the fuse to your fuel pump, located in the engine bay fuse box.
2) Turn over the engine a few times to be sure that the fuel lines have depressurized.
3) Jack up your car from the rear passenger side, and then place jack stands underneath.
4) You will see the fuel filter behind the rocker panel , with fuel lines running from the fuel tank --> to the Filter ---> to the engine. Loosen the screw clamp used to mount the filter to the car.
5) The filter will be held on with white plastic hairpin type devices. Remove these with a flathead screwdriver. These often break when attempting to take them off, so be sure that your new fuel filter came with new ones. If not, be extremely careful, as the plastic can be brittle.
6) Remove the lines from the filter, watching for excess fuel.
7) Replace the old filter with the new, make sure to put the old clamp on the new filter for mounting.
8) Installation is same as removal, be sure that the direction of flow as shown on the new filter matches with the fuel flow.
9) Replace your fuel pump fuse.
10) Prime your engine a few times to build up fuel pressure by turning the key from OFF to ON and back.
11) Start it up, and check for leaks, just to be safe.
