Two links here. Firstly the copy of the page with the diagram, and then a closer look at the section we are having problems with.

There is no power being fed through the wire to the AC Compressor switches, so the compressor is not switching.
My AC guy is more than happy to look at this, however he's informed me he's not worked on this section of Contours before (99 Mystique), so I said I'd do some research to try and cut down labour times tracing wires.

My question is, can anyone provide any info on the physical location of this wire ? Pics would be a real bonus if available, but I know that's a dream.

Cheers all!

If you are talking about the connector to switch on the electric clutch (assuming this a V6) stand on the right side of the car looking into the front of the engine bay. If you follow the lower hose from the coolant overflow tank down to the compressor the connector is on top of the compressor. You may have to move the coolant and A/C lines out of the way. I unplugged this last night - unless you have small hands it is difficult to reach. If you jack up the right side of the car and look up at the compressor you should also be able to see the wires. They will have a grayish flexible cover on the outside to protect them from the heat.

It's before that I believe.

Looking at the diagram the wire is before the pressure switch, and before the compressor cycling switch.

Okay.. this is the most I could help you with:

You are looking for the physical location of the wire between C246 (connector) and S167(switch) according to your diagram.

Here is a picture that shows another view of that same schematic area.

Now.. you'll notice it goes from
N75 (AC Cycling switch) to C246 then to S167...
The same as your schematic shows...

Here is a physical layout..
Though I can't locate the ACTUAL switch S167.. I can find N75 in the physical picture, then C246 is on the top by the radiator.

If you look at the schematic, the next location is C62, and that is located
"Under dash panel, LH side, A pillar"

So, follow N75, up to C246 then onward towards the dash panel A-pillar (LH side) is C62.. somewhere between C62 and C246 is S167...

The only other thing I can say is that S167 is connected to the Heater mode switch, if you want to work that way... test continuity between N75 and the heater mode switch at that pin.. work your way back until you get continuity..
