Hi i'm new in this forum and i don't speak english very well. That my problem i got a 1995 contour v6 with a block from contour sport 98'the engine have 155k or 100 miles. yesterday i push my car to 7000 rpm and i think my head or my head gasket is finish. the temp always go in red after 10 min. What the best i can do? put a svt head or change the motor for a 3.0l duratech from taurus or escape. Maybe i can put only the taurus 3.0l head ...if that fit on my 2.5 block? like you see im not good in mech and in english lol

if the car always overheats (goes into the red) do not drive it to start with or you will take a head gasket out


first check the waterpump. chances are it has broken and needs to be replaced. once this is done see if the car overheat, and if it still does come back and someone will be able to help you out more

Most likely the waterpump.

You would not be able to reach 7000rpm without a custom chip, which I assume you do not have. 6750 is as high as you would get at that wouldn't do any damage.

Waterpumps are COMMON failures. replace it with a white plastic one, or a metal one, but DO NOT USE a black plastic one. Cost about $60-$70 and 25 minutes to do it yourself. DO NOT PAY A MECHANIC to do this!

Use the search link (at the top of every page) to search for waterpump removal, just make sure to change the box that says "date range" to "all".. search in troubleshooting, or duratec maintenance.)
