Another car I owned had a low fuel lamp - my 95 doesn't. Anyway, when I replaced the fuel pump, I had the sending unit out. The sender had a contact on it that was right near the bottom of the run that would turn on the low fuel lamp. I would find the wires running to the sender and ground out the low fuel circuit to see if the lamp comes on. You will need the color code of the wire first. If the lamp comes on, something is amiss with the sending unit in the tank. All the lamps coming on when you start the car is just a lamp test procedure. It wouldn't say if the circuit if made up. When I check out used cars, I look to see if all the lamps light. Some of the car lot clowns disconnect the ones that wouldn't go out...
