Got dubz??? That's right. Just hitting the market are the new and revolutionary "20x7.5" wheel size for 4-lug cars. I actually have been looking at this for about 2 weeks now, but have not come across the 4/108 bolt pattern, nonetheless in a wheel that was not chrome and fugly... till today that is... . Called one of the oldest wheel shops in Miami... Wheel Tec, Inc. The owner and founder (Randy) is an old time friend of mine and we have been working together for about 8 years since I first got into the car modding scene. His business is 26 years old and he knows everything in the book about wheels, tires, fitments, etc. I decided to give him a call today since I have not been able to find the deuces in 4/108 via my own search efforts, so I gave in to his knowledge and opinions. Comes out to be that there is one wheel that is a brand new line to the market called SSW (Not Stamford Sport Wheels, just "SSW"). Anyways, the one wheel that they make in 20"x7.5" is called the "012", and consists of a split six spoke design that harneses a 3" lip ! The wheel is avaiable in 3 finishes including black, and weighs a mere 22.5 lbs (That is lighter than my 19's at 25lbs!!!). Of course the tire would have to be the BF Goodrich G-Force T/A 225/30/20 to get the closest combo to the factory overall diameter of 24.46" (Got rubber bands?). The wheel line is so new that I was only able to fish out a single picture of it through extensive Google searching: I will be working with Randy for the next couple of days to discuss delivery times for the gloss black color, tire abundancy and fitment issues. You can bet your fine dollar I will keep CEGrs informed on my trials and tribulations in transforming my CSVT into a dubz rolla (but in sporty class and style of course, never bling )... Will get back on this topic soon. If you have any comments, feel free to post. I know there will be "dos" and "don'ts"... XL

Do it but you wont be able to drive around. with those tires you will bend a rim within a week. It would be great for show purposes though. But not so good for the street/track. I would try and go with a bigger tire. and just cut up/roll the crap out of the fenders.

Just placed the order. Gloss black center with 3" polished lip . $205 a wheel is too reasonable for a 22.5lb 20" wheel, so didn't even think twice about it... But that's not the whole picture. Check this... 'single drilled 4/108!!! '. How more custom can you get??? I am still in shock as I wait to see them. I had the choice of going hyper black or gloss black, but since I already have hyper black 19's, I changed it up a little... They should be here tomorrow .
Now tires...
225/30/20 BF Goodrich G-Force T/A $265 a piece
or...
225/35/20 and save almost $100 a tire but stretching the height another 5% = anyways...
Hmmmm...

...WOW.... Wish I was straight up big ballin like you... whats next, turbo???
But man... 20's... I dunno. I liek the idea, I REALLY do, I bet it will look amazing as all hell, hope you don't have fitment issues and rubbing is going to be most definetly an issue. Are you going to sell the 19's?? I'd like to have another set of wheels in addition to my bbs's for a more show look. The BBS's are amazing, don't get me wrong, but 19's would look VERY nice for showing off.
Can't wait to see pics... 20's on a tour, never thoguht it'd be plausible. Your tour is RAPIDLY increasing on my favorites list (mine's still better ) but man... not for long.

20" wheels = Bling.
Frankly, I think the whole big wheels fad is about to play itself out. I look at half the new cars today with their gigantic wheel wells and gigantic factory wheels and they just look out of proportion. Not to mention the compromises in packaging and efficiency that designers make in the name of trendy style.
Anyway, enjoy your "pioneering" effort. "As long as you like it..." as they say.

I know, but I've gotta make a stand for Spring Zing. Who would wanna come to another Spring Zing that me and Jim organize if this one wasn't a big hit? If I can "persuade" an extra 10... 15.... 50 people to come, then it'll sure be a good time.. The more the marrier!! I know it's not about the money though, I can tell.. You've either got some deep pockets, some high balance credit cards, or some pissed off loan sharks . Hope to see you in Fort Wayne in 29 or 30 days!

Easy for you to say. You walk out your front door, take a couple steps, make a right, take about 10 more steps, and you are in Spring Zing. I will probably arrive with a burned out cc module, an achy left leg, and needing a brand new oil change !!!

Buncha BS. I love when people spread misinformation like that. There are plenty of us running 215's on our Cougar's and I put 215 and 225's on customer cars every day.

That's a new Civic, where they revised the wheel wells. Pre-99 Civic's could only fit 19" wheels.
As a side note, I've fit 20's to my Cougar as has Craig (and I think we have larger wheel wells that ya'll). But, we both still had to cut metal to get the clearance for turning. Also note, that 42mm offset might not be enough, depending on your brake setup. (Btw, you WILL need bigger brakes to stop 20's). Offset is a factor of width, 42mm does not clear across-the-board, just ask me about my 19x9/19x10 setup.
E1
Edit: I hope it works man, I think it'll look hot. Just wanted you to be aware of what you're getting into. It was a 2 month project for us, and we've been selling wheels and tires for 12 years, too...

i think they'll look f*ckin nice. there is a cougar with 20" wheels that looks damn nice...so I'm gonna say that it for sure will look good. However he has huge fender flares... Seems like you're gonna have to cut the sh!t out of your wheel wells... Regardless, that 3" lip is nice. Just know your performance is gone with 20s...

I got the rims prematurely. Although I am posting this morning, I got a call at around 5:45pm yesterday from Randy at Wheel Tec telling me that the wheels were at his showroom. I know they close at about 6pm and I work at about a 15-minute distance from him with traffic, so I made sure he was going to wait up for me. Here comes the fun part guys... The rims REALLY ARE single-drilled to our bolt pattern!!! Aside from me completely over them for a moment (He had one on display just to tease me), I contained myself to have a chat with Randy about how the hell this incredible find, since so many wheel manufacturers are reluctant to make anything above 18" in our bolt pattern since 4/108 is so "unmarketable"... He went on expaining to me that everything metal from wheels to nuts and bolts is soon to be monopolized by the asian industry, since minimal monthly wage for a factory worker in Japan for example, is only $120 . So I guess this explains why this set of wheels as like many others in it's class, would cost over $600-$700 if it were made here in the US, however made possible to 'floss' by us little people just becase of the Asian production market. Good for us... . Sucks for the little Japs though... Anyways, I took one wheel home to show my girl & family, and left the rest of the set with Randy so I can come mount them tomorrow when my BFG G-Force's arrive from The Tire Rack. Photoshoot to come for sure on Sat, but not many angles since my Mirko is still hurting . XL

Although I have the wheels already, the tires are not showing up until Monday, but that's not all. Since my car has to go in to the mechanic shop for headers, tune-up, oil change, and to the body shop for Mirko repair and aluminum skid plate install, I will need to use my Honda Civic EX Coupe to get around. Funny part is that the Honda is currently undergoing full makeover in order to be fully complete and not need to go in to any type of shop again. Right now it already has undergone the installation of: DC Sports Header, Streetimports Cat-Back Exhaust, AEM Short Ram Intake, Dropzone Lowering Springs, OBX Camber kit, REV X Gunmetal 17" with 215/45/17 tires, and 20% Titanium Window tint. It has just gone in for a full Street Styler Lip kit to complete the job, and that will take another week. So it will be another week before Intruder even get's into the mechanic shop for headers & tune-up which will probably take about 2 days in itself, then about another week for Mirko repair. I am procrastinating that maybe about 2 weeks to get final snap shots on the dubz...sigh . I just had to have my second car fully macked out!!! Couldn't help it... specially if my girl will be pimpin it most of the time. XL

the wheel itself is quite nice. if the 20" is 22.5lbs i'd love to see what the 18" or 19" weigh. personally i dont mind the big wheel look but 19" is the max i care for. and u better have some smooth roads where u live. every car i see with 20" the car looking incredibly out of proportion. there's so little tire and sooo much wheel that it looks like its overpowering the wheel well, if u even understand what i'm trying to say. on suvs 20" works. 26" doesnt but somehow people still do it.
now can u find out if this wheel comes in 18 and the offset and weight price etc and if the company has any other styles available?

I do not have knowledge of this company making 17-19s for our cars since this new model is an exclusive 20" production according to my wheel distributor. I guess I am lucky about living in South Florida where roads are relatively smooth except for the occasional 'under construction' areas that take decades to fix . I will look into it anyways and keep you posted...

I get my other car back tomorrow, so the tour will be going into the mechanic on Saturday and probably will be done with headers and tune-up/hand brake fix by nex Wed. It will then go in for Mirko repair and I will probably get it back on Friday. Look out for weekend whoring Next Saturday .

Well, I fired my mechanic from the header job since all he did was whine and moan about how scary the job looked, and hired svttour to do the job. Either way, looks like the 20's are coming on before the headers do. No worries there. I pick up my contour today, and dropping it off at another bodyshop that I hired to do my Mirko fix since the one I've been working with quoted me a 2 week lead time and that is just bull$hit if you ask me. I plan on having my car decked out by mid next week/Friday.

I can't beleive with all the $$$$ you have invested you aren't coming to SZ to show it off - man your missing out on an awesome time and the chance to be the ULTIMATE whore in the flesh. I guess it'll be left up to Me, Buckshot, Jim and Mark to fight for the honors instead. You've lost browny points XL - shame on you slacker!

Good for us... . Sucks for the little Japs though...

Whoa! Not being a smartie pants or anything but I had the best job in my life until the company decided that it would be cheaper to have this stuff made in china, japan, brasil, and mexico. Our plant is being shut down and spread out because of this cheap labor. Not trying to be your dad or anything and that is an awesome price on the new shoes for your tour, but its not that good for the economy of the U.S.,and its very good for these "Japs" that you speak of. The U.S. economy is being ripped to shreds by this b/c mine is not the only plant in the city I work in thats closing. Luckily I have found another job,but alot of people wont be as lucky. Good luck on your Ride, hope it doesn't give you to much of a headache, post some pics as soon as your done so we all can !

What is good for the consumer is ultimately good for the economy. There is out sourceing from foreign companies into America as well (think hyundai, mercedes, and honda plants, etc.) It's nice to buy American but if it's not a good choice for the consumer, then it isn't a good choice for the economy. It all works out, don't worry bout it.
