i put in my koni\b+g\camber kits a couple weeks ago, and when we torgued down the top nut, the top plate that comes with the kit was bending(no we didn't ever tighten them). I was talking with the guy that helped install it and he had the same problem.

So were at the drag strip yesterday and i noticed there bent more, and the mount had shifted on the strut towr and comber is now off and i will be making new beefier plates to replace then.

My question is..is this something thats happened to alot of you? if it's happening to a lot of people, i say we contact the maker of the kits and try and get them revised for future buysr, and possibly a diferent set of plates for us with problems.

MIne bent down as well. I flipped them over and tried that. It worked for like a week maybe. They got so bad that I could spin them around when the car was sitting. I finally removed them and made some out of 3/16 in plate and forced the rubber edge gasket deal over them. I haven't got the car back together to commment on how well these ones will hold up. I'm sure they'll do better then the crap that came with the kit.

Mine moves around too. That top plate doesn't really do anything other than cover the hole. The factory plate will no longer fit since the upper strut bolt gets moved when the caster/camber is adjusted.

Basically, that's just the way they are unless someone want to come up with a better looking cover.

i'm not worried about asthetics...i could care less, i don't want to have to get an alignment every week because the darn things move. I'm making new ones on wednesday out of thicker steel.

It takes more than moving the cover around to change the alignment.

if the cover is moving....the strut is moving. i'm aware of how to adjustthe camber\caster of the car, and that top plate hold the strut in place when tightened down, now if the plate dishes, it loses it's torque setting and has the ability to shift around, also changing strut location and camber\caster settings.

The lightweight cover from the camber kits does not have the strength to do what you are suggesting. Besides, they are talking about the cover spinning, not the upper strut stud shifting in it's mount.

Same on mine, the top plate is very unimpressive. I'd be interested in a thicker plate if someone wants to sell me one. As to it allowing the suspension to adjust itself, Mine does not appear to have done so. The problem I see is if you were to go over a bump in a corner. With the upward pressure off the spring mount and the steering being turned, I could see that causeing a problem.

I'd like to respectfully dissagree here. To my eyes it would seem that it is to hold the top of the strut. Without the crappy flimsy top plate the strut could under some circumstances not extend, but instead the mount would come out all together. Now, I am not some nut that jumps his car, however there are even some freeways here (I-5 south just north of Magic Mountain) have portions that dive and crest abruptly. If my front wheels were to leave the ground and that top plate bent far enough, there would be nothing holding the top of my front struts in.
