You may laugh, but let me tell you what I did with my horns.

To me, one of the best sounding car horns is From the Lincoln of the late 60's and early 70,s. They used three horns, two that are essentually the same as most cars, one each high and low note, with an added third horn with a still lower note. I had the three horns on my 72 Ranchero and it sounded very elegant yet didn't seem offensive even though it was louder.

One day I noticed that the horns on my daughter's Tracer sounder better than mine and started to get restless about mine. The factory horns sound OK, but not great.

Even though most horn systems with dual horns use a high and low note, no two seen to use exactly the same two notes, giving each make and model a unique sound, even when the same horn vendor is used.

I started searching in eBay for the Lincoln horns, and just missed one. Still feeling restless, I bought the Freeway Blasters. They are made by the same company as the stock ones, but are a bit louder. I mounted them up with the stock brackets and tried them out. It was better, both in volume and tone, but still not what I had hoped for.

So I grabbed some jumper wires from my tool box and experimented with adding back one of the old horns and then I tried all four. The tone is still a little better and of course, it is much louder.

So call me crazy, but I played with the brackets and made two short wiring harnesses and mounted the old one back in using the new brackets. It took a little imagination but now there are four horns mounted where there was once only two.

I would still like to find a Lincoln third horn though.

Please, no horny car jokes.

I used to play with horn combos on my first Integra, since it was really easy to get the bumper off and have unrestricted access. I had a combo on there that was almost the same note, but one was off by like 1/3 step. SOOO grating. My parents even came outside to tell me to knock it off.
